Check it out

I have created this section on my blog to post about things I want my blogging friends to check out. I will make reference to random things here that I think you will enjoy.

I have always wanted to have nice nails and after many attempts of doing my nails myself and acrylic nails that I have always managed to break I gave up. I have recently come across Shellac which is absolutely awesome. I don't have to worry about breaking them as much tougher than acrylic nails, it's  more natural than getting acrylic nails, it doesn't destroy your nail bed like acrylic nails does, I am totally hooked on Shellac. If you want to check out what exactly Shellac is here are the details on Wikipedia.

This online shop belongs to my friend Hilary, like me she is crazy about creating and I am always bugging her to make me something or the other. I had always wanted a silver babushka pendant but couldn't find what I was after in the shops. I then decided to give Hilary a picture of what I wanted and she came up with the beautiful pendant featured on this post, this  is available in her online shop. Have a look at all her designs here, Hilary ships her creations overseas and does customized jewellery as well.

hi everyone,
last Friday evening my husband and I went to the THE FINDERS KEEPERS MARKETS  which is held about every six months at Carriage Works in Redfern, Sydney. I so look forward to going every time and this time my husband came along and I think enjoyed himself or at least appreciated the beautiful handmade wares of all the stall holders. I had been feeling sick the whole day at work and nearly didn't go but in the end there was no way I could miss out on this night of music, delicious food, gorgeous handmade goods and  mulled wine (I only had one glass).

Anyway, I am obsessed with Babushka dolls and collect them in every way possible. I have a skirt, blouse, bag, pendants, lunch boxes, rings , tea towels and earrings that feature babushka dolls in some way or the other and so when I walked into the markets I nearly fainted when I saw how the stage was decorated. As you can see in my not so good photo there were were babushka doll balloons in the clouds that were made out of fabric, I must have stood there for about an hour with my mulled wine just staring at the stage, I was in absolute awe of how beautiful it looked and had to post about it on my blog.

Attending this event has again made me want to support the buying of handmade goods more, all the stall holders were so passionate about what they were selling and all the items were unique and ethically made. My aim from now on is to avoid buying mass produced goods as much as possible, I know its going to be hard but I feel  with some effort it will be possible.

For any of you have been following my blog for a while you would all know how eratic I have been with posting etc. When I got back into blogging again a few months ago I wanted to make a success of it and had to make a few changes to my blog. I wanted my blog to reflect my personality especially with the header and the other design elements. My husband and I came up with the original header design which was still not quite right and that is when I approached Karen from The bald dragonfly to perfect the original design. Karen was more than happy to help and did an amazing job that I am so happy with in redesigning my header, footer and also some watermarks. I am sure she won't mind me mentioning that she charged me a very reasonable fee of $25 which was in the form of a Papertrey Ink voucher. So, if you are wanting to revamp your blog  Karen is the designer to contact, Karen's email address is  bkbaker1222@gmail.com

I absolutely love perfume and beauty products  and one of the hardest things for me when I decided to only use natural body products was having to give up some of my favourite synthetic fragrances.

Yesterday my friend and I spent about an hour in my favourite perfume shop in China town, Sydney. I don't even know the name of the shop but we had lots of fun trying on every perfume in the shop, we must have driven the sales staff mad. Whilst we were there we came across the Pacifica perfume range and all I can say is I am now a fan and totally hooked on this awesome range. The collection of perfumes combines scents from all around the world, the packaging is  made of 100% recycled paper and a percentage of their profits goes to local charities. I am so happy to have come across this range and I encourage all of you who want to smell nice and support an ethical company  to check out the Pacifica range.
